There is a silver plate around the lingam. A vessel is hung on top of the lingam. From there the Ganga Theertham drops fall on the lingam and anoint.
At the back of the temple is a separate Nandi, looking at the wall. This is Adi Nandi. The mosque is located on the site of the Adi Viswanathar Temple. Every part fell in every place. Relieved of his rage, Lord Shiva brought the rest of his body from Kedara Nath to the majestic Kasi. The body of Goddess Parvati was cremated in the Mahamayanam. Lord Shiva preached the Tharaka mantra in the ear of Goddess Parvati. Then he knew that the earring in his ear had fallen somewhere. There Thirumal was digging a theertham well with his wheel, sitting next to it and doing penance towards Lord Shiva. Shiva approached him and asked about the earring of Goddess Parvati. Thirumal pointed to the well near where he was sitting. When Lord Shiva reached the well, the kundalini in his ear also fell into the well. A Shiva lingam emerged from the well with a bright light. In that Shiva lingam the power of Lord Shiva and the power of Goddess Parvati were united.
Thirumal took the Jyotirlinga and consecrated it at Italam. He continued his meditation towards Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva, before Thirumal appeared with Vishwaroopam. To ask for the boon that Thirumal wanted, he always had to bless the people from the Jyotirlinga which he had consecrated here. He also prayed to Lord Shiva to come to the Ganga Italam at the top of his head and worship Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva also gave him the boon he asked for, and he himself is united in light in that lingam and still bless the people today. Due to his devotion to Thirumal, the Shivalingam got the name Viswanathar. Thirumal then married his mother Goddess Parvati, who was incarnated as Visalachchi, to Lord Shiva.
