Important:
I originally began work on this vlog in 2023 before I had any knowledge of any of the controversies surrounding the NaNoWriMo organisation. Please forgive my overly chirpy and tone deaf attitude at the beginning of the video. I was living under a rock and I didn't know.

Considering the NaNoWriMo organisation seems to be trying to set the world record for how many controversies an organisation can create in a year, I completely understand why many writers no longer wish to support the organisation or the website. That said, I believe that the event of National Novel Writing Month is an important tradition that has lasted 25 years and means a great deal to so many writers all over the world, completely independent of the official NaNoWriMo organisation and the NaNoWriMo website.

It began in 1999 as a team project between 21 friends who loved writing and wanted to challenge themselves. As far as I am aware, none of the original 21 participants are members of the NaNoWriMo HQ anymore. In fact, there are many writers who have taken part in the event of NaNoWriMo for years without once logging into the website.

What I'm trying to say is, the concept of writing 50,000 words over the month of November certainly doesn't belong to the NaNoWriMo organisation. It belongs to everybody. I still plan on participating this year and cheering on other writers who are participating as well.

Anyway, here are the links to all of the websites listed in this video. I hope they're helpful:
