My wife and I were sitting at a picnic table,
talking about launching the business.

We knew we wanted to build something around branding and gear

We were tossing around ideas when we noticed something happening around us.

There were eight or ten dogs tied up at picnic tables along the beach…
but one dog was getting all the attention.
Our chocolate lab, Ollie.

People kept stopping.
Kids wanted to pet him.
Adults wanted to say hello.

Total strangers were smiling, striking up conversations,
lingering longer than they planned to.

And suddenly it clicked.
A lab just has that effect on people.

It draws you in.
It makes things feel familiar and friendly.
It’s memorable.

That moment helped shape the name Brand Lab Gear.
