The Dublin Riots: Gardaí publish photos of 'people of interest' | Newstalk

Gardaí have published photos of 99 ‘persons of interest’ as part of their investigation into the Dublin Riots.

This is the first time in the history of the Gardaí that such a tactic has been used on this large a scale.

Members of the public are now being asked to help identify the individuals in the images.

Gardaí compiled the photos after analysing over 17,000 hours of CCTV footage.

Any member of the public can provide information on the persons of interest by clicking on the images on the Garda website.

This will then open a tab where they can submit information.

Gardaí say the images will be removed as soon as they identify a person.

Riots
To date, 57 people have been arrested in relation to the riots, which broke out on November 23rd 2023.

The violence broke out hours after a knife attack on schoolchildren and their carer on Parnell Square earlier that day.

During the riots, cars, buses and Luas trams were set on fire, while businesses in the city were looted.

Only a handful of arrests have led to convictions.

After the riots broke out last year, Garda Commissioner Drew Harris said a "lunatic hooligan faction driven by far-right ideology" was behind the violence.

Taoiseach Simon Harris, meanwhile, described the riots as "disgraceful" and said individuals were using a tragic incident "to their own ends".

He promised those involved in the rioting would be brought to justice.
