The Radha Shyamsundar Jiu temple or Shyamsundar Jiu Mandir is situated at Khardah under Barrackpore sub-division of North 24 Parganas district. The temple was established by Sri Birbhadra - the divine son of Sri Sri Nityananda Mahaprabhu. Birbhadra Goswami was born in 1457 AD at Kunjabati - the residence of Sri Nityananda Mahaprabhu in Khardah.

There is a legend associated with the history of this temple. Birbhadra Goswami was born at a time when Tantrasastra and Buddhism were the two most popular religions in Bengal. On the will of Sri Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, he gathered Vaishnavites at Khardah from different places of Bengal and started to perform sadhana (worshipping) at Kunjabati. He got know about a special black basalt stone (Kasthi Pathar) through his sadhana. The stone on which Lord Krishna stood during the Rajsuya-Jagya of Dharmaraj Yudhistthir was located in the Goud Palace. The stone held three different incarnations of Lord Krishna - Mohini Rup, Shyam Rup and Vatsalya Rup. He wanted to bring the stones and carve out the three idols out of the stone. With this objective, he started to unite the Vaishnavites and went to Maldah along with them chanting the holy Harinam. On his insistence, the Badshah of Goud agreed to give the stone to him to make the idols. Birbhadra saw a dream where Lord Krishna told him - 'It is impossible to carry the stone through the conventional route, so I will go flowing through the waves of river Ganges'. As per the instruction, the stone was flown in the river and it came floating up to Khardah. It was collected at the place which is presently known as Shyamer Ghat. Three idols of Lord Krishna were made by Nayan - Vaishnava devotee and artist. The three idols were Ballav Ji, Shyamsundar Ji and Nandadulal Ji. On the day of Maaghi-Purnima, the idols were established in their temples respectively - Ballav Ji at Ballavpur, Shyamsundar Ji at Khardah and Nandadulal Ji at Saibon.

The temple at Khardah is in Atchala style with the idols of Sri Krishna and Radha. There is a Natmandir in front of the main temple. Lakhs of pilgrims visit the Khardah Shyamsundar Mandir to witness the deity of Shyamsundar. The temple has great historic importance as Mahaprabhu Sri Chaitanya and Sri Nityananda lived here. The place has a rich heritage and is sanctified as their Leelakshetra. The West Bengal Heritage Commission declared the temple as heritage in 2018.
