82,5KG | 1984 | Friendship Cup (Varna, BUL) | Vardanyan & Khrapaty vs. World Records

The sixth session of 1984's Friendship Cup; the 82,5kg's category. Weightlifting at the Friendship Games was contested at the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, Bulgaria between 12 and 16 September 1984. 80 athletes competed in 10 events. World records were broken thirty times during the competition.
"The breakthrough for Team USSR began after outstanding lifting by Yuri Vardanyan in the 82,5kg class. He set world records in snatch (182,5kg), in clean & jerk (224kg) and in total (405kg). Anatoly Khrapaty competed successfully as a guest athlete - he also set world records ( 181kg snatch, 402,5kg total).
