De Montmorency Bridge (Khushab Bridge) 1931 In order to connect Shahpur and Khushab, he approved the construction of a bridge during the reign of the then Governor of Punjab, Sir Geoffrey de Montmorency. Work began in 1928 and the bridge was completed on 25 April 1931.
Geoffrey de Montmorency was born on 23rd August 1876 in Ireland and he was the Governor of Punjab from 9th August 1928 to 19th July 1932 and then from 19th October 1932 to 12th April 1933. On 25th April Khushab Bridge was also inaugurated by him. The bridge is named after him; De Montmorency; Iron Bridge was kept as it is now called Khushab Bridge or Old Bridge. This bridge is now completely closed for traffic. Sargodha Government College's old name was also Demont Morency College. You died in 1955.
