The Tradition Amongst The Village Women: The Making Of The Fijian Woven Mat🇫🇯

In this vlog we follow Suli with the other village women as they show us the process of making the Fijian woven mat. As a village women you have to know how to make the Fijian woven mat as it is a big part of the Fijian culture. It is used for many things such as funeral, wedding, birthdays and everyday life.

Suli shows us how it is started by removing the spikes. Another village woman shows how to fold it and make it ready for it to be cooked. Then they show how it is planted.

After you cook the leaves then you have to dry it for a few days. When it is dried then the women has to straighten the leaves and then they can use it for weaving the Fijian mat.
