Anja Schneider started Sous Music with a desire and passion to express herself creatively, we’ve already enjoyed remixes from Butch and Argy, Francesca Lombardo unveiled her release a couple of months back and now Anja brings one of London’s hottest new talents – Billy Turner.

Listening to Nas and Frank Ocean at home in West Sussex as a teenager must seem a million miles away now for the hotly tipped young protégé as he releases the immense ‘Approaching Land’ this December.

Barely in his twenties, Billy burst on to the scene in 2017 and has amassed more milestones than many accumulate in a lifetime. Appearances at Fabric, Stealth and Digital and radio sets for BBC Radio and Rinse FM give some indication as to the potential being unleashed.

Indeed, his brand of hypnotic, steely techno drawn from inspirational artists such as Truncate and Marcel Dettmann has already won him an army of high-profile fans, yet he freely admits he’s still growing into his sound.

The EP begins with the ambient drone of ‘Approaching Land’. Dense and multilayered, its mature and subtle. The tribal undertones of ‘Singular’ soon make way for modular synths that mutate throughout. ‘Thinsulate’ is driven by a bongo-led percussion and dub FX. Thoughtful and deep to begin, it soon transforms into something quite different. Rounding out the EP is ‘Fingers Crossed’ an acid-flecked peak-timer which will no doubt cause absolute carnage. ‘I’ve been playing Fingers Crossed for a while now and it's a highlight in my sets, its hypnotic which helps you forget about time, it’s perfect” – Anja.
