I first crossed paths Daniel Donato in Nashville Tennessee almost ten years ago on Broadway. However, he was just crossing the street in the opposite direction I was going. I couldn't help but notice him. Wildly dress, fluffy hair, carrying his guitar from place to place I kept seeing him and wondering who the kid was. And he was at most a teenager. But you could tell by his swagger he had something going on.

Finally I found out his name but still hadn't heard him play. I found out a lot of players I knew like Joe Robinson, Adam Searan, and Josh Black spoke very highly of him. I just had to see this kid play somewhere. Finally one day I happened to be in downtown Nashville at the same time my friend, and amazing blues player, Zack Rosicka was so I convinced him to check out Daniel with me at Roberts Western World. We were blown away by this kids talent, ease of play, style, sound, and his dynamic stage presence. He was clearly a rising star, a natural.

I was able to capture some video and pics of Daniel performing that week. But it was just "run and gun" with one camera. So, I was excited when I learned he would be close to my home in North Carolina. Now I could bring all my toys to the gig.

I used 5 cameras. I shot this solo so it was a little tricky because the place was packed! And that's a lot of gear to monitor while trying to shoot the show. The house wouldn't let me grab a board mix so I had to use the audio from the cameras. I wanted to do more but going at it solo, more would have been risky.

This show was so much fun. It was great to see him doing his own thing now. The whole band was fantastic. This was the bassists 4th show with them. Everyone was super nice. The Evening Muse was a perfect spot for such an intimate showcase. Daniel was even entertaining between songs. He would tell stories and jokes and didn't skip a beat.
