This is the 50th year that Hovertravel have been operating the ferry service across the Solent between Ryde, Isle of Wight and Southsea, Hampshire.

Later this year the first of 2 new hovercraft is expected to be delivered. The second is expected to be delivered in 2016.

Freedom 90 came into service in 1990, whilst Island Express came into service in 2002. Island Express was built around 1984/5 and originally called Freja Viking.
