CA EDD Work Search Requirements: Should you answer yes to did you look for work even if you’re working part time, have a date you’re returning to work at your old job or a date you’re starting a new job or still don’t have childcare?

I always recommend answering yes to did you look for work especially now that the work search requirements are returning July 11th! Even though not everyone has to look for work and the CA EDD has listed a few exemptions, they also state “A person who answers “No” will be asked further questions and may be scheduled an interview to determine benefit eligibility for that time period”.

An EDD phone determination interview is currently taking up to 14 weeks because of the EDD backlog. So even if you technically shouldn’t need to answer yes to did you look for work, I still think you should.

Please answer truthfully. You can answer yes to did you look for work by doing work search activities like updating your resume, or letting friends know you are looking for work.

If a lack of childcare is why you’re unable to look for work go to your favorite websites and see if they are hiring for remote work.

Two websites to look for remote work are: angel.co and Hitmarker.net even visiting these websites counts as a work search activity.
