Stephanie Le Lievre, Deputy Principal, Level 3 Classroom teacher, with a history in speech pathology presented to us via WebEx Thursday 11th November, 4:30pm.

Stephanie has spent five years in the Kimberley region as the Literacy Coordinator of a large school district. She also co-facilitates the very popular Reading Science in Schools Facebook community with Natalie Campbell and Jasmyn Hall, and is a WA branch member for Think Forward Educators.

Stephanie has presented on syntax and grammar for Think Forward Educators, written about change management for the Nomanis publication, and presented about leading change and aligning school practice for The Reading League.

Stephanie shared with us her knowledge on building a school comprehension model. This covered how texts are selected and integrated with units of work designed to build student background knowledge, how to use comprehension strategies from Questioning the Author (Beck, McKeown & Sandora) and Reading Reconsidered (Lemov, Driggs & Woolway), alongside strategies from The Writing Revolution (Hochman & Wexler)
