The rain is coming down so hard it feels more like hail, the thunder so loud and sudden that you'd swear it's coming from directly overhead. That could be because of Subdirector Tezcatlipoca's arms, of course, crackling with electricity - centered on his cufflinks, snaking around his sleeves like barbed wire around a baseball bat.

"I need you to understand that I'm being nice, here. I'm giving you a way out. You just have to leave the Federation's borders and never return. Do that, and I'll make sure this gets buried. Nobody has to go to prison, nobody has to get executed."

He cracks his knuckles, then twists his left wrist precisely twenty degrees. Baqi jerks around, nerves and circuitry betraying him, and slams the blade of his switch-sword into an old oak tree. It's buried deep - might take a good ten minutes to pry it back out.

"Keep causing problems," Tez continues, "and that's not going to be an option anymore. See, my friends aren't as nice as I am, and you're testing my patience as is."

Senn's knees are shaking, almost ready to buckle. Still, she forces a smile. "Shame. It's not often I get to fight a handsome girl like you."

"I know the feeling." Tez rolls his shoulders, takes a step forward. "It's not often I get to fight someone who can take more than one punch."

As a personal project, I’ve decided to write a soundtrack for a game that doesn’t exist. You may recognize the setting from the tabletop RPG I wrote, Our Stormy Present.

The Subdirector is a regularly recurring antagonist, the sort of woman who is sometimes a huge pain in the ass, sometimes kind of pathetic, and always about five steps behind the party. I wanted something suitably grandiose and sinister, with "mechanical" and "thunderous" elements to mirror his command of electricity.
