Beautiful weather today and Richard came to help so we got most of the dormers done.

Started with the cheek walls, got the three basic cords in place then filled in the studs. Tied the cheek walls into the gable walls with the top plates and filled in the cheek wall double top plates. Put in Californian corners for the eventual drywall. Next we placed the ridge beams and cut the common rafters.

Barge rafters will go last when I put the sub-facia on.

The most challenging part remains, the intersection between the main roof ~45 degree slope and the ~12 degree dormer pitch. There won't be much valley which I am sure will be annoying as hell to shingle. The flashing has to be quite carefully done and I am not 100% sure how I will vent the cripple rafter region before the dormer wall yet. Also not sure if I will go with a conventional valley yet which is more compact than a California plate valley. Anyway, once I work all that out I'll do a bunch of blocking on the main gables then some sheathing and wrap on the walls and it will be ready to roof and dry-in.
