Both Majority and Minority Has Agreed to Take Politics Away from Galamsey Fight

It's time to use offensive actions in fighting Galamsey in Ghana — Anti-Galamsey Army Commander
The National Anti-Galamsey Army Commander, who is also the Commander of the Ghana Army Combat Training School, Colonel Robert Narh, has called for more offensive measures in the fight against illegal mining (Galamsey) in Ghana.
According to Colonel Narh, such offensive actions could include a "shoot and kill"approach if illegal miners resist efforts to stop Galamsey operations.
meeting with small-scale miners in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality, Colonel Narh emphasized that the military is ready to take strong action but requires approval from the government.
“There are already taskforces on the ground reclaiming the destroyed lands, and soon, Ghanaians will regain their water bodies,” he said, appealing to all citizens to join in the collective responsibility to fight Galamsey.
Supporting these efforts, the Central Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Kwesi Dawood reported progress in the fight against galamsey across the region’s hotspots.
He revealed that over 1,000 acres of galamsey-affected land have been reclaimed in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality alone.

Mr. Dawood highlighted that since the land reclamation initiatives began, the number of people engaging in illegal mining activities has drastically fallen, with no cases of water bodies being drawn since the introduction of the exercise.

He assured that NADMO will continue to work tirelessly to stop the galamsey menace in the Central Region.
The Upper Denkyira East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Honourable George Anane, pledged to eradicate galamsey from his municipality.

He revealed that over 27 innocent people have tragically died after falling into abandoned galamsey pits in the area.

Honourable Anane emphasized that ongoing reclamation efforts will help prevent such accidents and restore productivity to the land.

He also promised stricter enforcement, stating that anyone mining in protected areas such as water bodies and forests will be arrested and prosecuted.

He boldly declared that the Upper Denkyira East Municipality will achieve zero galamsey by the end of the year.
