Sooner or later, all musicians get the recording bug. OK, maybe that's not universally ture, but it's true for Josiah Wolf. As the drummer for WHY? Josiah's had plenty of experience in recording studios as a player, but more recently he's been crafting recordings of his own music using a Tascam 388 1/2" reel-to-reel and some choice outboard gear.

Since Josiah's primary role in WHY is a the man behind the kit, we asked him about his preferred drum micing setup and gear. Though he's a self-avowed recording neophyte, Josiah does have some excellent suggestions when it comes to tracking: get yourself a Really nice Mic-Pre, a Really Nice Compressor (or one of these guys), and a trusted friend -- preferably with some engineering experience -- to run your recorded tracks by.
