It's about 30-45 minutes from the city center depending on traffic. There is parking near the beach and after you park your car just head down a dirt path to get there.

The water here is calm and shallow so if you're not comfortable swimming in deep water this might be a good option for you because there aren't many waves here (although sometimes during high tide the waves can be stronger). The sand is white and clean with some rocks scattered around which are fun for exploring!

Playa El Anclon is a great place to visit if you want to get away from the crowds. It is difficult to find, but definitely worth it! You can get there by taking any bus heading west on Highway Duarte and asking the driver to drop you off at Playa El Anclon (it's about fifteen minutes west of Las Terrenas).

There are no restaurants or hotels nearby, so bring your own food and water if you plan on spending more than a few hours here. The beach itself has no facilities either, so be prepared with sunscreen, bug spray and toilet paper...or just relax in one of their hammocks! This is one of those spots where things tend to move slower than normal because it's quiet and peaceful...so don't expect many activities like volleyball games or picnics at this beach :)

As far as what else there is around here: if your stomach starts growling after all that swimming in the ocean then try getting some food from one of the local vendors who sell pizza slices; they're delicious! There isn't much else around except maybe a few stray dogs running around while trying not step on any sunbathers' heads while they sleep under shade umbrellas...but luckily those guys aren't allowed inside so don't worry too much about them bothering anyone inside their homes :)
