This video presents aerOS Pilot 2 that aims to manage the carbon footprint of our services by shifting compute tasks between locations, on the basis of current and predicted energy availability. This includes edge compute clusters powered by green energy.

The pilot covers two computing scenarios. The first one covers the processing of Earth observation products. It’s a compute intense process of transforming satellite images. The data is transferred to the edge containers, processed and sent back to the central object storage. The second one is standard mixed type workload data processing.

Containerized edge data centres are developed by CloudFerro S.A. and located directly at energy sources, connected to the smart infrastructure and providing cloud continuity. They will be deployed and validated at renewable energy centres in Poland.

Use case will proof applicability of aerOS for managing small, edge nodes located directly at energy producing locations, gathering information and events from the deployed smart devices. The edge nodes will have connectivity to the private cloud infrastructure of CloudFerro S.A.
