How Can Congress Be Anti-Hindu? Priyanka Gandhi Junks BJP's Charge

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday junked BJP's allegations of her party being "anti-Hindu" and cited Mahatma Gandhi's last words, 'Hey Ram', when he was shot dead by Nathuram Godse in 1948.

In an exclusive interview with India Today's Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra recalled several Congress leaders' contributions during the freedom struggle against the British.

"We have been branded as an anti-Hindu party since the BJP came to power. Who is our party's biggest leader? Mahatma Gandhi. The freedom struggle was based on his principles of 'satya' (truth) and 'ahimsa' (non-violence). It was based on the approach of 'satyameva jayate' (truth alone triumphs). This movement was based on the teachings of the Hindu religion," she said.
