The University of Caen Normandie boasts a rich historical heritage and a strategic territorial anchoring. Symbol of the reconstruction of the 1950s, it is resolutely focused on the future.

Our university welcomes more than 32,000 students on several campuses in the Caen conurbation and in the cities of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, Alençon, Lisieux, Saint-Lô and Vire.

The University of Caen Normandie, also called UNICAEN, is a major player of and a driving force for the development of higher education and research in Normandy (41 research units, including 21 recognised by national research institutions).

It is a multi-disciplinary institution, covering 5 major fields of study held by 12 faculties, institutes and schools. We offer a wide range of three to eight-year degree programs and training opportunities throughout life.

Lastly, UNICAEN is an institution open to the world, carrying European and international ambitions. Our university was awarded the “Bienvenue en France” label by Campus France, attesting our attractivity and the quality of our accommodations for international students. For instance, UNICAEN benefits from no less than 524 international exchange agreements.
