Battery Management Using Active Cell Balancing MATLAB/SIMULINK

Description
The balancing is based on the inductor as an energy storage element. If Cell 1 has the highest SOC, S1 is turned on during the first half of the PWM signal and energy is stored in the inductor. During the next half cycle, S1 goes off and the energy in the inductor is transferred to Cell 2 through the diode D2. The opposite is true if Cell 2 has the highest SOC.

The amount of the transferred energy in a single cycle depends on the rate of discharge as well as the cell equalization speed. The value of the inductor, its maximum current, and other circuit element parameters are selected in accordance with these requirements.
