Abandoning the City to Live on the Edge of Nowhere | PARAGRAPHIC

Описание к видео Abandoning the City to Live on the Edge of Nowhere | PARAGRAPHIC

What started as a backyard passion project has now grown to a full-fledged farming oasis. After outgrowing their first acreage, Duane and Lori are now cultivating 6 new acres of dry, desert land, and showing what it takes to turn raw desert land into an integrated, regenerative farm. Home to over 170 fruiting trees, vines, and shrubs, the farm has quickly expanded to include pastured chickens, pigs, and other livestock.

Their goal is to provide sustainable, seasonal farm products to the local area as well as encourage others to do the same. As you’ll hear Duane and Lori tell you, “If we can farm on the edge of nowhere, so can you”!

Abandoning the city to live on the edge of nowhere may sound like a crazy idea to some, but for others, it’s the best decision they’ve ever made. If you’re sick of the hustle and bustle of city life, or you’re just looking for a change of pace, ditching everything to move to a remote location can be incredibly rewarding. Of course, there are some challenges that come with living in a remote area – but that’s part of the appeal for many people. If you’re thinking about making the move, read on to learn more about what you can expect. From complete isolation to a sense of community unlike anything you’ve experienced before, there are plenty of reasons why living on the edge of nowhere is an attractive option.

Why More and More People are Leaving Cities

There are a number of reasons why more and more people are choosing to leave cities and move to rural areas. For many, the fast pace of life in cities is simply too stressful and they long for a slower, more simple way of living. Others are attracted to the idea of being self-sufficient and living off the land. And then there are those who simply crave wide open spaces and fresh air.

Whatever the reason, there is no doubt that the appeal of rural living is on the rise. If you're considering making the move yourself, here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. You'll need to be prepared for a lifestyle change. City dwellers often take for granted conveniences like 24-hour grocery stores and public transportation. In most rural areas, these things simply don't exist so you'll need to be okay with making do without them.

2. Your social life will likely change as well. If you're used to going out every weekend and being surrounded by people, you may find yourself feeling isolated in a rural area. It's important to be proactive about finding ways to connect with others in your new community.

3. Be prepared for some culture shock. City folk often view those who live in rural areas as backwards or uneducated. However, most people who choose to live in rural areas do so because they appreciate traditional values and a simpler way of life.

Benefits of Growing Your Own Food

There are many benefits to growing your own food. One benefit is that you know exactly what you are eating and where it came from. Another benefit is that you can save money by growing your own food. You can also get exercise and fresh air by working in the garden. Growing your own food is a great way to be self-sufficient and live a more sustainable lifestyle.
