Emperor Norton's Bridge western TV series episode starring Edgar Stehli, Jan Merlin, Ted de Corsia, Sean McClory, Carleton G. Young, Sammee Tong and Robert Bice. With narration by John Nesbitt. Directed by Roy Kellino. Joseph Abraham Norton arrived in San Francisco, California in late 1849 a wealthy man and did well with business. But by 1859 he had changed considerably. This story is taken from actual events. It is a short dramatization, documentary, biography on Joseph Norton who became known as Emperor Norton. Of course Hollywood takes a few liberties by adding a few things. Emperor Norton was known so well that Mark Twain fashioned the character The King from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn after the man and Emperor Norton appears as himself in the Robert Louis Stevenson story The Wrecker. Emperor Norton issued three Proclamations in 1872, creating the first vision for a great bay spanning bridge connecting Oakland and San Francisco via the Yerba Buena Island. This is an episode from 1956 of an almost completely forgotten television series. This is episode 61 of The Forsaken Westerns, an original TV series produced by Westerns On The Web Productions. The Forsaken Westerns series contains episodes of TV shows that were never broadcast or have not been broadcast in as many as 65 years.
