I heat up the glass stones in an old pan over medium heat for 20-30 minutes, then dump them into an ice bath and let them sit about 5 minutes. On a hard surface with an old towel, I break the stones with a hammer. To recolor them, I add a few drops of alcohol ink at a time till I get the color I want.
