Duluth, MN (Part 1)

Minnesota is my 42nd state to visit. For the first part of my Duluth visit, I focused on the city itself--went on a walk around the streets of downtown up to Canal Park, the main hub of the city. This is where the people gather mostly along the various shops and restaurants along the shores of Lake Superior. I also observed two of the cities bridges which are in themselves landmark--the Aerial Lift Bridge and the Minnesota Slip Bridge--while they operate to let passing ships through. Not to be missed are the North and South Pier Lighthouses, which had been built since the early 20th century and still being used to this day. Located at Canal Park, the Maritime Visitor Center is a must see as it provides a background on the maritime history of the city. Lastly, I walked around the lake shore till I reached the Leif Erikson Park and Rose Garden. Erikson was a Norse explorer, thought to be the first ever European to have set food on continental America. The rose garden is popular especially for wedding pictorials.
