BJJ White Belt Forgets His Techniques During Fast Paced Scrambles

Описание к видео BJJ White Belt Forgets His Techniques During Fast Paced Scrambles

In this video I answer a question from our friend Mike about who's a White Belt dealing with scrambles and transitions in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu during rolling. As you’ll hear from his question I think he’s trying to THINK too much.

Before I get into the question and answer portion of the video I take you guys through a quick partial tour of my MMA gym in Louisville, KY. Derby City MMA is the name of the gym in case you’re ever in town.

In the video I discuss the difference between knowing BJJ techniques and learning them and gaining an intuitive sense of what to do rather than relying on conscious thinking. I even share a story about how I did my back mount grips in my sleep from so much practice.

The next thing I bring up is limiting the possible scrambles by dictating position on the mats. If you watch a lot of good BJJ practitioners. They play positions over and over. This allows them to be familiar with a position and map all the options out. This makes the scrambles predictable.

In the end it’s less about thinking and more about being on the mats. But hopefully the video will give you some ideas to . . “Chew” on. ;)

I hope the video is useful to you!
