We thought it would be “all downhill” from here. Oh how wrong we were. Without a doubt, Everest Base Camp Trek Days 8-11 from Kala Patthar to Lukla are the most difficult days of the entire trek. Aside from the fact that we had already hiked 40+ miles for 7 days in negative temperatures and gained 9,000+ feet in elevation, we then had to reverse and completely retrace every footstep, staircase, and uphill climb from where we once came. But we promise you this—the views were always worth it!
