Johnston Island runway

Описание к видео Johnston Island runway

A trip down Johnston Island’s two-mile runway taken while biking from the eastern end of the runway to the western end. Although the eastern half is overgrown with vines, the western half is better maintained so that it remains usable in the event a plane needs to land.

Points of interest:
0:04 – JOC (Joint Operations Center). This end of island is also home to a large sooty tern colony and they can be seen and heard flying around in large numbers.
1:48 – Turn off to main taxiway and aircraft parking area
3:32 – Education Center
3:52 – Turn off to main taxiway and aircraft parking area
5:01 – Turn off to main taxiway
5:10 – Turn off to camp

Taken May 13, 2017 at Johnston Atoll National Wildlife Refuge.
