Why do gay men love divas so much?

Gay men are an undeniably a very diverse community, who can be found in all areas of life. But I don’t think it’s unfair to say that a huge number of us not just love, but are obsessed by divas. And its’ a relationship I’ve long been fascinated by.

It has to be about much more than just the music - so why exactly is the connection between queer men and their female pop icons so special? What needs do they fill within us? Why is the Queen of Pop Madonna especially important to us? Why are these women quasi-religious figures in the community? And why don’t gay men feel the same way about male superstars? This mini-documentary explores these questions and more.
