Transferable skills are a great way to showcase the experience you’ve gained in your previous roles or during your college career, even if you do not have many things to list on your resume. Though it can feel like you have no experience, this isn’t true. Everything you’ve accomplished has taught you something, and you can take those skills and apply them to your desired role.

In this video, The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) goes over what transferable skills are and how you can identify them to include them in your resume.

Transferable skills are skills you’ve obtained from past experiences and accomplishments that can apply to other roles.
Some transferable skills are teamwork, customer service, interpersonal skills, communication, and more.
Leadership is an excellent transferable skill, and listing organizations that help increase your leadership development, such as the NSLS, are often sought after by hiring managers.
To utilize your transferable skills, connect them to the internship you’re applying to, which will help leverage all of your experiences to help you stand out.
