Donore Village is located in County Meath, west of the Town of Drogheda. It lies within the historic boyne valley. During the 17th century, the village was used as a defensive position by the Jacobite army of King James ll against King William lll during the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.

Mellifont Abbey, was a Cistercian abbey located close to Drogheda in County Louth, Ireland. It was the first abbey of the order to be built in Ireland. in 1152, it hosted the Synod of Kells - Mellifont. After it's dissolution in 1539, the abbey became a private manor house.
The abbey was established in 1142.
