Today we honor St. Ephigenia, a noble princess of ancient Ethiopia who gave up earthly royalty to follow the King of Kings. Baptized and spiritually guided by St. Matthew the Apostle, she chose a life of consecrated virginity, founding one of the earliest known Christian communities of women in Africa. 🕊️⛪

When a powerful ruler demanded her hand in marriage, she refused, standing firm in her vow to Christ. Her defiance led to the martyrdom of St. Matthew, but God protected Ephigenia, and her witness helped the Christian faith take root in her nation. 💪🔥
