Gennady Golovkin (GGG): Lead Overhand/Cuban Hook

Today we are going to explore a vastly underutilised technique in my opinion - the lead overhand/Cuban hook! In this video I will outline the technique behind a lead overhand/Cuban hook and will explore the similarities and differences between these techniques. I will demonstrate this technique offensively and defensively on a heavy bag.

I will explore the strengths of this technique - why I personally believe that especially the lead overhand, finds the target more often than not. I will also provide examples of fighters using this criminally underused technique for you to film study. Finally, I will provide bag work of my own involving the use of a Cuban style hook which I favour for shoulder mobility (rotator cuff health).
