PR 1 Vereda do Areeiro is a trail connecting the highest peaks of the island of Madeira, Portugal.
It begins at Pico do Areeiro (1818 m) and ends at Pico Ruivo (1862 m).

The trail is moderately difficult for anyone who has ok fitness at least. Ascending parts are not very long so you can rest during the flat parts and descents.

It can be done back and forth from Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo, or descending to PR 1.2 to Achada do Teixeira after the Pico Ruivo summit.

It's one of the most iconic places and hikes on the island, one that should be on the list for everyone who's visiting the island.
