Storm Can’t Stop Harlem: The Battle For Hope 2 – Uniting Harlem Against Gun Violence

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, the “Plaza” of the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building in Harlem came alive with the sound of gloves, cheers, and community pride. The Battle For Hope 2, sanctioned by USA Boxing Metro and hosted by Harlem House of Champions in partnership with Silent Voices United Inc. and the office of Councilman Yusef Salaam, brought together athletes, families, and supporters in a powerful stand against gun violence.

Special support from Assemblymember Al Taylor, NYCHA President & Tenant Advocate Daniel Barber, Jackie Rowe-Adam, Founder of Harlem Mothers Save, Barbara Atkinson, President of 125th Street BID, Taste of Seafood, Giovanni NYC and Sylvia’s Restaurant.

Fighters battled under the hot Harlem sun until Hurricane Erin rolled in during the 13th bout ⛈️, forcing officials to stop the final two matches for safety.

💪🏾 Though the storm cut the fights short, Harlem’s fighting spirit never wavered. Those who didn’t get to compete will continue their journey at the Church Street Boxing Fall Brawl, Friday, September 17, 2025.
