Is this the BEST EBAY FIND of the YEAR? King Chulalongkorn’s Silver Discovered!

Christian has just flown in from South West Ireland with an incredible eBay find…a King of Siam Silver and Enamel cigar case depicting an image of the Kings personal yacht, a portrait of the king, his signature and signatures of his attendants who accompanied him on a European in 1897
King Chulalongkorn was a verdant Anglophile and in 1897 on his political goodwill tour of Europe he handed out as gifts a number (number unknown) of solid silver cigar cases to diplomats, royalty and guests as he toured the royal households of Europe. These cases were personally commissioned by the king and only one or two have ever come onto the market…the last one being sold in 2011 for around £5000
This particular silver and enamel box which depicts King Chulalongkorn’s touring yacht ‘Maha Chakri’ which he used on the tour is in remarkable condition. The enamel is as good as it gets, the hallmarks are I rubbed and the gilded interior is the same. Fortunately, Christian hasn’t cleaned the box, he’s left it in original condition, which will allow for the next owner to clean or not, as they wish
The case was bought on eBay from a seller in France. Who this particular cigar case was given to as a gift in 1897, we just don’t know, but we know for certain that it was given as a gift in 1897 by King Chulalongkorn
