Protecting Namibian megafauna and promoting sustainable land use with Trinity Pro

The Kuzikus Mapping Project (KMP) is a drone mapping initiative of Kuzikus Wildlife Reserve (KWR) in Namibia. It aims to develop a monitoring tool for sustainable land use management and biodiversity conservation in the semi-arid savanna. Kuzikus, the privately owned commercial farm has transitioned to being 100% wildlife based. With an ecosystem of over 3000 individuals from more than 40 mammal species and 50 reptile species, the farm supports sustainable breeding populations of endangered black rhino and giraffe.

African megafauna is one of the most prominent symbols of the current decline in biodiversity due to poaching. To combat this issue, wildlife managers must establish effective protection measures.

The availability of accurate data on the distribution and population of these animals is crucial for the success of their efforts.

A big thank you to the whole team of Kuzikus for the great accommodation and the possibility to realize this project. We would also like to thank Spleenlab for their collaboration and their advanced AI.
