Hey guys! In this travel vlog I continue my journey through Maharashtra by exploring the amazing cultural city of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar also known as Aurangabad. This incredible city is a hidden gem in middle India, being close to 2 UNESCO world heritage sites. Spending 3 days in the city I visit 4 major tourist destinations, the first being Daulatabad fort. Devgiri fort is an old Indian fort with palace and temple complexes inside, which was once under rule of the Ahmadnagar Sultanate, Delhi sultanate and Mughal army (at different times). On my second day I visit Ellora Caves, which includes the world famous Kailasa temple, the world’s largest Monolithic structure constructed in the 8th century and dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. This complex houses 34 caves consisting of Hindu temples, Jain temples, and Buddhist monasteries, and it is one of the best things I’ve ever seen. It should be one of the World Wonders! The next day I tour the mind blowing Ajanta caves, another ancient historical cave complex containing 26 Buddhist monasteries and worship halls (chaitya). These caves are just as beautiful as in Ellora and contain so many detailed paintings of the Jatarka, depicting some stories of Buddhas lives, and many sculptures of Bodhisatva’s protecting Buddha in worship. Finally I visit the Bibi ka maqbara which is a mausoleum and a smaller replica of the Taj Mahal. All of these destinations are a must-see for foreigners and tourists of India and need to be added to your travel itinerary!
