#ItaniluEsie Esie is an Igbomina Yoruba town of Kwara State. This video tells us about how this town was founded. Essie is generally known as a home of 1,700 soapstones images. The origin of these soapstone images is bewildering. To date, it remains a mystery. Indeed, nobody knows how these stone images exactly came about but a few explanations have been offered by the inhabitant of Esie town. The most popular among them is that the 1,700 stone images were rebellious settlers who were turned into stone images.
The source claimed that these rebellious settlers were from different tribes who sent words to the king of Esie then that they were coming to settle down in his town but to their utter disappointment, they did not see anybody to receive them hence they settled outside Esie town.
It later became known that these settlers became a threat to the security of the town. They were undermining the administration of the chief and were about to rebel and as a result, the god of the land turned these 1,700 settlers into stone statues.
Ironically, Esie people worship them annually. This video also includes the list of the fifteen kings that have been crowned since the town has been founded. #fullhistoryofEsie #Esiesoapstones #ereesie #Esieimages #Esiemuseum #esiesculpture #esieart #esiefigurines #esiestatus #esietown
