How To Knock-In Your Cricket Bat

Top Tips:

Spend between 3 and 6 hours repeatedly hitting your bat with a cricket bat mallet. This is more easily achieved if you split the time up into 30min sessions.

It can be very loud, so take precautions and protect your hearing.

Focus your efforts on hitting the 'face' of the bat at the edges and toe areas, as these are the areas most vulnerable to breaking.

Avoid hitting the splice, the 'V' shape at the top where the bat blade and handle meet.

Do NOT hit the sides, rear or handle of the bat with the mallet, as this can cause damage.

Finally, if you can still see seam marks on your bat then it's not ready to play with. So keep going until they are no longer visible.
