The US Navy has been increasingly utilizing drones, including the Boeing MQ-25 Stingray, which enhances the operational capacity and range of manned aircraft. The MQ-25 drone is designed to perform takeoffs, refueling, and landings independently, ensuring fuel capacity and maximizing range. The MQ-25's advanced flight control system allows it to make instant decisions and adapt its trajectory. The Northrop Grumman X-47B, introduced in 2011, is the closest predecessor to the MQ-25 and incorporates UNM semi-autonomous flight capabilities. The X-47B's streamlined and flat structure enhances stealth, making it difficult for enemy radar systems to detect. The MQ-8 Fire Scout, an unmanned autonomous helicopter design, was tested ten years before the X-47B, offering versatile capabilities for reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, and situational awareness missions. The MQ-8 can carry various payloads and be equipped with rocket pods for attack and defense purposes. The first set of MQ-8s was delivered to the US Navy's combat ships, marking a significant step towards equipping the Navy with more advanced autonomous options.
