In this video, we explore the beautiful village of Phurungaon in the monsoon season. We started our day by hiking through the lush green hills of Phurungaon. We were greeted by the sound of the raindrops falling on the leaves and the smell of the wet earth. We also visited a local waterfall, which was even more beautiful in the rain.

Phurungaon is located at an altitude of 4,500 feet above sea level. It is about 14 kilometers from the town of Kalimpong and about 92 kilometers from NJP railway station.

We stayed at Ashika Homestay, which is run by Managl Ji. The homestay cost was Rs. 1400 per head, including food and lodging. We visited Phurungaon on August 12, 2023, to celebrate our 77th Independence Day.

The best time to visit Phurungaon is during the autumn (November-January) season, when the weather is mild and the skies are clear. This is the time when you can get the clearest view of Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world. However, the monsoon season (June-September) also has its own beauty. The hills are lush and green, and the waterfalls are in full flow. If you're looking for a more relaxing and scenic getaway, the monsoon season is a great time to visit Phurungaon.

On our last day, we visited Rishop Pine Forest, Lava Monastery, and Ambeok Tea Garden. Rishop Pine Forest is a beautiful forest located at an altitude of 6,000 feet above sea level. The forest is home to a variety of pine trees, as well as other plants and animals. Lava Monastery is a Buddhist monastery located in the hills of Lava. The monastery is a popular tourist destination and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Ambeok Tea Garden is a tea garden located in the foothills of the Himalayas. The tea garden is a popular tourist destination.

The cost of living in Phurungaon is very affordable. There are a few things to keep in mind when visiting Phurungaon during the monsoon season:
👉 The roads may be slippery and impassable, so it is important to check the weather conditions before you travel.
👉 There may be power outages, so it is a good idea to bring a flashlight, powerbanks and other essential supplies.
👉 Lastly, be prepared for rain.

We had a wonderful time exploring Phurungaon in the monsoon season. We would definitely recommend this trip to anyone looking for a relaxing and scenic getaway. We hope you enjoy watching our video!
