Wondering how to pronounce “plus” in French correctly? Sometimes, we pronounce the S, sometimes we don't. It's like WTF! When do we need to pronounce S of plus and when the S is silent?! Don't worry, I got you covered! French pronunciation can be tricky, and “plus” is a great example but in this video, you’ll learn how to pronounce "plus" once and for all.

Let's break it down and make it easy to remember and to understand!
First, think that you can (almost) always pronounce the S in plus, except from...
❌ Don't pronounce the S of plus when you have a negative sentence.
For example: je ne me rappelle plus or je ne me souviens plus (I don't remember).
❌ Don't pronounce the S of plus when you have a comparative sentence where plus is followed by an adjective or an adverb. For example, cette voiture roule plus vite mais elle est plus chère (this car rides faster but it's more expensive).

⚠️ Last but not least, you can also pronounce the S of plus like a Z when plus is followed by a vowel (a, e, i, o, u, y) or a silent H. For example: les chats sont plus indépendants que les chiens (cats are more independent than dogs).
