SM-3 Missile Launch by Japan's New Aegis Destroyers

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Maya-class destroyers JS Maya (DDG-179) and JS Haguro (DDG-180) conducts Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) intercept flight test, in cooperation with the U.S. Navy, off the coast of Kauai in Hawaii, November 15, 18, 2022.
The event, designated Japan Flight Test Mission-07 (JFTM-07), was conducted in order to demonstrate a successful engagement of a target missile from the JS Maya and JS Haguro using the sea-based midcourse engagement capability provided by Aegis BMD.
