Debabrata Biswas is probably one of the greatest exponents of Rabindra Sangeet or Tagore Songs from the yesteryear and also one of the most controversial and talked about characters of Modern Bengali Songs. Debabrata Biswas requires no introduction in the world of Rabindra Sangeet.The name Debabrata Biswas has almost become synonymous with the genre of Tagore Songs. This particular album is a path-breaking one because this was one of the first time some one sang English translations of Tagore Songs.

Debabrata Biswas is considered as a shining star in the history of Bengali Songs as well as a king pin for popularizing Rabindra Sangeet. He single handedly changed the course of Rabindra Sangeet and how in future this genre of Bengali Songs would be perceived by audiences all over the world. Debabrata though started as a a puritan and believer in strict notation bound renditions soon understood the real essence of Tagore's Art form. Instead of blindly following scriptures he soon started experimenting with the feel and lyrics of these songs and created his own brand of accompaniments as well as arrangements. This became a key tool for popularizing Rabindra Sangeet among the masses. Debabrata Biswas was a new fresh wave which broke the orthodox rigidity of the so called Rabindra Sangeet puritans. His music though not always technically sound was known for his superb expression and emotional depth. Debabrata Biswas used western classical instruments like Cello, Piano and Violin along with the traditional instruments used in Rabindra Sangeet like Tabla and Esraaj. These brought in a new freshness to the world of Rabindra Sangeet.

This album " With A High Hope" was a hit when it first hit the market in 80s. It is still a rage among the masses. Specially songs like Tomar Holo Suru and Baro Aasha Korey along with the English translations are a milestone in the world of Rabindra Sangeet.
