Leh-Ladakh

Episode - 11

We reached Sarchu around 4pm.The weather was freezing cold.(minus degrees). My hands were numb and dry.But I tried to shoot as much possible by removing my gloves.Wasnt easy at all.We decided to stay put in Sarchu as we came to know that the weather and the roads ahead were very bad and it would be risky to go ahead.Rohan was busy exploring the place. This place looked like a dream. It was a small house with a small window with the view of the Himalayas. The feeling was a pure bliss. There were army camps and tents around. You can stay in these tents. We were paying around Rs 200/- for the tent. The shop people were very nice and helpful. For our dinner we had some chapati, Sabzi, dal and rice.I had never experienced this type of cold but it was an experience of a lifetime.Later when we checked on google we came to know that the temperature had reached minus 18 degrees at night. My bisleri’S water had converted into ice.We hardly slept as the weather was unbearable.Even the water on the roads was frozen. There was a small bonfire which was useful and was used to heat the water.

Hats off to the people who Ara here inspite of the extreme conditions. The bike was also not starting and after pouring lots of hot water,it finally started. After finishing with our breakfast we bid goodbye to this place and set out for our ride towards Leh.
