Описание к видео Breaking the mould: Crowdfunding for publishing projects - Tech Forum 2024

Dive into the world of crowdfunding with Kickstarter, a platform revolutionizing funding for creative works, including literary projects. With over $509M CAD pledged to publishing initiatives worldwide, Kickstarter proves that crowdfunding is a powerful approach to bringing ideas to life. Beyond raising funds, Kickstarter enables creators to connect with readers, expand their networks, and build vibrant communities around their projects.

In this session, Oriana Leckert, Head of Publishing at Kickstarter, provides an overview of how the platform works, shares best practices for running successful campaigns, and highlights why Kickstarter is an excellent choice for both emerging and established small publishers.

Joining Oriana is Kim Werker, Co-Founder and Publisher of Canadian press Nine Ten Publications, who offers insights into their own crowdfunding journey. Nine Ten successfully used Kickstarter to fund their first three full-colour books, raising over $125,000 CAD. Kim shares how the platform helps them achieve their publishing goals and how they’re planning for future success.
