When I became a quadriplegic in 2009, I didn’t have any insight into the lives of the roughly 20% of Americans living with a disability. While dealing with my recovery, I also had to grapple with how my identity was being reshaped by social barriers and attitudes that hindered my ability to live and interact with the world in the same way as before.

Over the years, my own understanding of disability has evolved. Today, I believe society is witnessing a shift in the way people like me have a voice and are represented in the media and beyond.

In April 2020, my husband Rudy and I welcomed twin girls into the world. I face the same joys and challenges of any parent, but with some extra twists! Join me on my journey of beauty, love and adventure in a world that is still mostly designed for the non-disabled. I hope my story will challenge biases and equip viewers with new perspectives.
