Cognac Review: Hennessy Very Special (VS)

Cognac is the end result of French white wine (Ugni Blanc grape) distilled twice in copper pot stills and then aged in French oak. In the case of the Very Special grade of Cognac, the ingredient eau de vie must be aged for a minimum of two years in French oak.

Hennessy VS has ingredient eau de vie aged for the minimum of two years, but also much older ones. I don't know for sure how much older as the reports are conflicting but based on my tastings I would say 5-8 years are blended in. Hennessy will not disclose how the oldest ingredient eau de vie making up the blend for proprietary reasons no doubt.

In any case, up to forty different cognac estates end up in this Cognac.

Please view my video for a detailed tasting review. Thanks for tuning in!
